Feasibility of disability-integrated, universally accessible, urban co-housing in Winnipeg / Prepared for: Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation ; Prepared by: Gail Finkel.: NH17-241/1996E-PDF

"The typical model of co-housing is defined by active resident involvement, the intentional development of an active and strong neighbourhood through social interaction within the site, and extensive common facilities integrated into daily life. The private dwellings are down sized by 10-15% to develop the common areas, which include a common house and shared green spaces. The common house usually has a kitchen, dining room, laundry, guest rooms, and lounge areas. Shared meals are prepared and served in the common house one to six times per week. This model of housing provides a great number of opportunities for people with disabilities"--Abstract.
