5203 |a"During the 1989 breeding season, an inventory was made of Double-crested Cormorants (Phalacrocorax auritus), Ring-billed Gulls (Larus delawarensis), Herring Gulls (L. argentatus), and Common Tems (Sterna hirundo) nesting in the Canadian portion of Lake Superior. The field work was a cooperative effort by the Canadian wildlife Service, the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, Pukaskwa National Park and contractors hired and trained by CWS. Islands were visited by boat and all active nests were counted using hand counters. Caribou Island located sorne 60 km offshore was not part of the study area"--Abstract.
