"The purposes of this paper are (1) to continue from Dobos et al. (1988) and provide an update on the status of colonial waterbird breeding populations at Hamilton Harbour (1988-1994), (2) to describe how human changes to the landscape, together with natural succession and interspecific competition have affected nest distributions in the Harbour, (3) to report the results of conservation efforts for Common and Caspian Terns and of control efforts for Ring-billed Gulls, and (4) to provide a framework for making effective decisions regarding the future of colonial waterbirds nesting at Hamilton Harbour"--Introd., p. 2.
