"In addition to promoting linguistic duality and protecting Canadians’ language rights, ensuring official language minority community (OLMC) vitality is a key concern of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Official Languages. In the first part of this report, the Committee focused on the anglophone communities in the county of Brome-Missisquoi and the francophone community of Petit-de-Grat in Nova Scotia, their histories, the challenges they face and the progress they have made. In the second part, the Committee reviewed the inherent problems with the Government of Canada’s Official Languages Program that are holding back OLMCs.
