Assessment of chlorinated hydrocarbon contaminants in mammals from agricultural areas of Delta, British Columbia / Christy A. Morrissey, R.W. Elner and J.E. Elliott.: CW69-5/420E-PDF
"Pesticide residues from agricultural operations and particulate emissions from wood fired boilers of greenhouses are of growing concern for their potential impacts to wildlife, livestock and humans. In 1998, a pilot study was conducted in Delta, British Columbia, to assess levels of organic contaminants in Townsend’s voles (Microtus townsendii) and a domestic horse. In particular, concentrations of polychlorinated dibenzodioxins (PCDDs), polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and several organochlorine pesticides (OCs) were determined in two pools of vole livers and in one horse plasma sample"--Abstract.
