"The status of Great Blue Herons (Ardea herodias) breeding in the Maritime Provinces was studied as part of the National Heron Census (NHC) in 1979-82, when regional reports were published for all other parts of the species' Canadian range. That information from the Maritimes, with many other data from earlier and later periods, is summarized herein, including many details that were not presented in the Maritimes breeding bird atlas (Erskine 1992)"--Abstract, p. v.
