Globally significant wintering and migratory populations of waterfowl and shorebirds use the region’s productive estuarine, tidal flat, rocky and sandy shoreline and inshore aquatic habitats. Birds and their habitats in British Columbia are subject to a wide range of anthropogenic influences including recreation, industrial and residential development, and increasing shipping traffic.
