5203 |a"Recent and historical outbreaks of the Mountain Pine Beetle (MPB) (Dendroctonus ponderosae Hopkins) have caused significant damage to forests in British Columbia through destruction of millions of hectares of pine forest. Management strategies have employed a variety of techniques to reduce timber losses from beetle outbreaks including the use of anarsenic-based pesticide monosodium methanearsonate (MSMA). We conducted a 4 year study in the Cascades (Merritt) Forest District to assess the threat of MSMA exposure to avian predators that feed directly on bark beetles, through a combination of field and laboratory methods"--Abstract.
