"Elk Island National Park is situated in the Cooking Lake Highlands of central Alberta approximately 25 miles east of Edmonton. The mean latitude is approximately 33° 38' N. Its southern part is intersected by Highway No. 16; entry is also easily made from the north by leaving Highway No. 15 at the town of Lamont. Various roads in the park give ready access to different parts of this attractive wilderness area including Astotin Lake, the chief point of interest for most visitors"--Introd.
