"The main objective of this Staff Study is to provide a complete and comprehensive set of Canadian school enrolment data for the period since 1951-52, and to sketch the possible dimensions of enrolment up to 1975-76. The results from this work form the basis for some of the analysis in the Fourth Annual Review - - in particular, they are incorporated into the analysis of over-all demographic trends and their implications, in the assessment of potential productivity trends as they are affected by rising levels of education, and in the review of trends in spending on education by consumers and governments"--Introd., p. 1.
