Liquidity preference, price expectations and the nominal interest rate in Canada / by Peter Wrage.: EC22-3/1977-76E-PDF

"This paper deals with the dispute concerning the determinants of the interest rate in Canada. Recently, a number of competing models have been tested on Canadian data to determine which model best explains Canadian interest rate behaviour. A most disturbing result of this comparative analysis is the decisive rejection of the Feldstein-Eckstein liquidity preference model by Canadian data and, by implication, the doubt this casts on the validity of U.S. results. This paper systematically examines these claims"--Abstract.
