"In this paper we have examined the process of interregional adjustment to a shift in the regional terms of trade under various assumptions regarding the distribution of economic rents. Our procedure was to specify a stylized model of the Canadian economy which consisted of two multi-sector regions - an energy-rich West and an industrialized East. The model was then used to simulate the impact of a doubling of energy prices on each region's income and industrial structure under three separate scenarios for the distribution of economic rents and alternate assumptions regarding the interregional mobility of labour"--Abstract, p. iv.
