520 |a"Severe flooding occurred in June 1964 as a result of historical maximum peak discharges in the headwaters of many streams in Montana and South western Alberta. The flooding was caused by a storm that extended along the foothills, parallel to the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains, and 200 miles northward from Helena Mountain. This report deals primarily with the flood on the Canadian side of the International Boundary but considerable reference is made to the Montana flood area which has been described in the Geological Survey Water-Supply Paper 1840-B, "Floods of June 1964 in Northwestern Montana"--Abstract, p. vii.
