"In June 1972, more than six inches of rain fell over parts of the Peace River basin southwest of Grande Prairie, resulting in record flows in nearly all streams in that area. The rain occurred with the passage of a cold low over Central Alberta, which permitted a northeasterly upslope of warm, moist air to prevail over the southern Peace River basin for about 36 hours"--Abstract, p. v.
