5203 |a"Laurentian Great Lakes coastal wetlands have become recognized as important habitats for the conservation of freshwater mussels, providing refuge from the impacts of invasive dreissenid (Dreissena spp.) mussels. Between 2011 and 2015, we sampled freshwater mussel assemblages at 40 coastal wetland sites along the north shore of Lake Ontario. Our study objectives included: developing species lists for each wetland; identifying wetlands that support mussel species at risk; comparing the composition of assemblages associated with different coastal wetland habitats (barrier beach, drowned river mouth and lacustrine); and documenting the degree of dreissenid mussel infestation"--Abstract, p. iv.
