"Pursuant to section 68 or 74 of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA), the Minister of the Environment and the Minister of Health have conducted a screening assessment on two of four substances referred to collectively under the Chemicals Management Plan as the Eugenol and Isoeugenol Derivatives Group. Phenol, 2-methoxy-4-(2-propenyl)-(commonly referred to as eugenol) was identified as a priority for assessment as it met categorization criteria under subsection 73(1) of CEPA. Rose, Rosa canina, ext. (commonly referred to as Rosa canina extract) was considered a priority on the basis of other ecological concerns"--Synopsis, p. ii.
