"The large increase in the world price of oil since 1973 has resulted in a corresponding rise in the value of Canada's oil and gas reserves. Since the cost of production from conventional reserves has not risen at a comparable rate, the result has been a significant increase in the economic rent from production of these resources"--Introd., p.
