The changing economic status of women / Jac-André Boulet, Laval Lavallée.: EC22-122/1984E-PDF

"Compared with researchers in other disciplines, economists in Canada have tended to ignore the issues raised by the growing participation of women in the economy. In undertaking to explore this neglected area of research, the Economic Council of Canada has set itself several objectives designed to help establish a foundation for further research in this area, both by the Council itself and by others. These objectives are as follows: to describe the changes that have taken place in female labour force participation; to identify the occupations where women have made gains or have lost ground; to analyse the factors that contributed to this success or failure; and to put forward measures and policies, based on the results of its research, that are intended to promote equal opportunity for women in all aspects of the economy"--Foreword, p. vii.
