"The purpose of this report is to draw attention to the plight of freshwater organisms in Canada and North America and to encourage the direction of further conservation efforts towards this group. The report explains why we should be concerned about conserving and protecting freshwater biodiversity in Canada; lists the principal threats and describes several in detail (pollution, harmful alien organisms and climate change); and outlines Canada's commitments to the Convention (e.g., the CBD, Accord for the Protection of Species at Risk, U.S.-Canada Framework for Cooperation in the Protection and Recovery of Wild Species at Risk, legislation)"--Abstract.
