Geochemical stability of phosphorus solids below septic system infiltration beds / M. A. Zurawsky ... [et al.].: En13-5/03-180E-PDF

"In a recent review of 10 mature septic system plumes, it was recognized that precipitation of phosphorus (P) commonly occurred in close proximity to the infiltration pipes, resulting in discrete narrow intervals enriched in P by a factor of 2-4 (Robertson et al., 1998; Zanini et al., 1998). Although these attenuation reactions appeared to be sustainable, questions have arisen regarding the potential for remobilization of this P mass, should geochemical conditions change"--Abstract.
