5203 |a"In this paper, an evaluation of a number of existing one-dimensional river flow models is presented. The evaluation is based on theoretical formulations of the models. To perform this evaluation, a set of general governing equations describing river flows in one dimension was formulated and was used as a "yardstick". By doing so, it was possible not only to effect the model evaluation but also to identify areas where basic knowledge is needed for further development of realistic models. This work forms the first part of a two-stage model evaluation work that is being carried out by the Task Group. In stage-two evaluation, models of similar calibre will be compared based on their performances for common data sets"--Abstract, page 1.
