"Prior to this study only limited information was available regarding Prince George stormwater and sewage discharge characteristics such as toxicity, heavy metals and chemical contaminants. Results from the bioassay determinations show that the majority of the storm sewers tested as well as the Prince George Sewage Treatment Plant discharge were toxic to juvenile coho salmonids (Oncorhynchus nerka) . Effluent from the Prince George Sewage Treatment Plant was also shown to contain high levels of residual chlorine"--Abstract.
