Public forecast verification scores for Greater Vancouver, 1972-78 / Vello Puss, meteorologist.: En57-44/78-047E-PDF
"The current verification scheme for public forecasts at the Pacific Weather Centre was inagurated early in 1972. All 5 a.m. forecasts and the observed conditions, in 6 hour blocks, are entered on a form. ... Initially the calculations were computed by hand, but late in 1973 a minicomputer (Herbie) was installed. .. With close to 7 years of printouts from Herbie, it was decided to analyze the resultant verification scores. It would be of interest to determine if any trends were apparent in the scores."
