"On 25 August 2017, the stateless ethnic and religious minority population in Myanmar (Burma) known as the Rohingya began fleeing the country to escape targeted violent attacks by Myanmar Government authorities. These attacks have since been recognized as genocide by the Parliament of Canada. Persecuted for their ethnic and religious identity, the Rohingya escaped to Bangladesh with the hope of finding safe refuge, food, medical aid and humanity"--Introduction, page 5.
