520 |a"This note responds to a request by J. Shaw, Project Coordinator of the Point Pelee Study, for information on the grain size of sediment offshore from Pelee Point in Lake Erie so that its usefulness as material for beach nourishment can be assessed. The requirement is for sand and gravel with.a median size greater than 1.0 mm. Sites with sediment meeting that criterion were identified in the data files of the nearshore sediment surveys of 1974 and 1975, and an estimate of the volume of sediment available was computed from related jetting and core data"--Introduction, page 1.
