The effect of test bar variables on the mechanical properties of magnesium casting alloys / A. Couture & J.W. Meier, Physical Metallurgy Division.: M38-1/151-1965E-PDF

"The effect of machining on the tensile properties of magnesium alloy test bars was investigated. Although some of the differences in property values were found to be statistically significant, they were of the same order as differences that are observed between melts of the same composition. The results showed that the mechanical properties obtained from substandard test bars may be significantly different from those obtained on standard test bars"--Abstract.
