"Over the years research work has been conducted in Canada on deformations underground resulting from mining. Most of the work has been done in coal mines, some in salt and potash mines, and increasingly in metal mines. The measurements are associated primarily with room- or stope-and-pillar mining, only a modest amount of work having been done in connection with longwalls.
