520 |a"In an initial study conducted in 1983 for Communications Canada, we analysed the replies of over 2,000 respondents concerning the process of diffusion of micro-computers in Quebec households. We placed particular emphasis on the use made by the purchaser and his/her family of their micro-computer, as well as its impact on their way of life. The second study, the findings of which are presented in this report, was conducted in 1985 for Communications Canada. Its objective was to study some 400 micro-computer owning families who had participated in the first phase of the study, in order to determine how their perceptions, attitudes and behaviour regarding the home micro-computer had changed. This longitudinal analysis - one of only a small number of studies to have addressed this set of problems - enables us to better understand the social dimension of the technological innovation represented by home computing"--Foreword.
