Selection of reactive mixtures for the prevention of acid mine drainage using porous walls / by: K. Waybrant, D. Blowes, C. Ptacek.: En13-5/95-47E-PDF

"Porous, permeable, geochemically-reactive walls present a promising passive treatment alternative for remediating metal-contaminated water. These walls are installed in situ in the path of the migrating contaminated groundwater by excavating the aquifer material and replacing it with a suitable reactive mixture. Contaminants are removed from the groundwater as a result of chemical reduction, and the subsequent precipitation of sparingly soluble compounds"--Abstract.
