An examination of the witch by-catch fishery / by W.R. Bowering.: Fs70-8/82-28E-PDF

"Nominal catches in the 1960's increased from less than 5,000 t to a high of 24,000 t in 1973 and subsequently declined to a low of 3,000 t in 1980. The 1981 catch increased slightly to 4,000 t. Research vessel surveys indicate that about 85% of the exploitable biomass is located in Div. 3K and the stock has been stable over the last several years at 30,000-35,000 t. Fishing at F0. 1 would, therefore, give catches near the present TAC of 8,000 t."
