5203 |a"The analysis of aromatic amines, particularly benzidines, at trace levels in environmental media has been difficult because of the lack of suitably deactivated capillary column stationary phases for gas chromatography. This report describes the use of a newer type of column, and it describes a method for the analysis of benzidines in waste water. The method was applied to the analysis of industrial effluent from a pigment-manufacturing company. 3,3'-Dichlorobenzidine and benzidine were found in four 24-hour composite waste water samples in 1996 at concentrations up to 650 µg/L. Aniline and some substituted anilines were also found in one of the composite samples"--Abstract.
