Report on housing needs of seniors.Em12-61/2019E-PDF

"Canada’s almost six million seniors represent a complex and dynamic cohort, with diverse living arrangements and housing needs. Within this context, it is generally understood that most seniors desire to age in community. However, as individuals age their needs and capabilities can change and they may experience challenges in finding suitable housing to accommodate their changing needs and services. These challenges may include difficulty in finding affordable housing; ability to afford necessary adaptive changes; limited access, or barriers to, mobility aids; and/or potential gaps in availability of appropriate supportive services such as home care. This suite of needs is referred to as the “integrated housing needs” of seniors and when these needs are satisfied seniors can successfully “age in community”"--Executive summary, page 1.
