To some countries, of considerable concern are remote mountain lakes. The Commission of the European Community (CEC) has recently organized a special workshop on acidification processes in remote lakes. In recognition of the expertise in watershed acidification modelling at NWRI, the workshop organizers invited the authors of this report to review several mathematical models for potential application to remote lakes.
