A sediment-contact bioassay with photobacterium phosphoreum / H. Brouwer, T.P. Murphy and L. McArdle. : En13-5/90-11E-PDF

"The sediment contact Photobacterium bioassay was developed to determine the spatial variation in toxicity of Hamilton Harbour sediments. The bioassay used the same bacterium as the Microtox bioassay, but the assay was changed to measure the toxicity of the particles, rather than the elutriates. When sediments contain hydrophobic contaminants (i.e. PCB's), the new bioassay is more sensitive than the original Microtox bioassay"--Management Perspective.
