Natural revegetation of abandoned mine areas is considered one of the ideal remediation alternatives from the aesthethical point of view. However, little information exists on the capacity of plants colonizing wastes at abandoned mine sites to accumulate trace elements. This study was designed to determine the uptake of different trace elements by plants colonizing tailings at two different abandoned mine sites. The first site was a gold mine in British Columbia, Canada, the other a base metal mine accompanied by a cobalt ore smelter in Ontario, Canada"--Management perspective.</marc:subfield>
