"In October 1978, a Survey by Industry, Trade and Commerce of some 300 large corporations was carried out. Companies covered account for about two-thirds of Canada's non-agricultural business outlays on new plant and equipment. Sectors excluded are housing, agriculture and fishing. Since spending patterns of large corporations differ from those of smaller companies and industry sectors not covered by the Survey, the results of the Survey cannot be extended directly to the economy as a whole"--Preface, page i.
