"The recent increase in catch rates for cod in Area 3Pn4Rs coincides with observations of exceptional recruitment of age four fish during 1978-80. Research surveys did not confirm this trend. By comparing catch rates and exploitable biomass from cohort analysis, the fishing mortality in 1980 was estimated at 0.30 for fully recruited ages. The projected catch for 1982 at F0.1 was 105,00 metric tons (t)"--Abstract.
