"In the early planning stages of the Upper Great Lakes Connecting Channels (UGLCC) Study, it was recognized that quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) aspects would be crucial to the overall usefulness of the study results. In order to address this matter, a Data Quality Management Work Group was established and thirteen interlaboratory performance evaluation (PE) studies for inorganic and organic parameters were designed and conducted throughout the duration of the UGLCC study (1985-1987)"--Abstract, page ii.
