"Statistical methods and thinking have an important role to play in water quality monitoring and this is not always well understood. This paper is a summary of an invited roundtable session at the American Statistical Association (ASA) meeting in San Francisco in August 1993 sponsored by the ASA Section on Statistics and the Environment and the Statistical Society of Canada. The co-authors were discussion leaders, with SEE as chair, and all are involved in some aspect of the topic in Canada or USA"--Management perspective.
