The grouping of herring populations in the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence / by D.M. Ware.Fs70-8/77-1E-PDF

"In the course of analysing the growth of herring larvae in St. Georges Bay, Nova Scotia, I was puzzled by the fact that the observed growth rates, which agreed favourably with other estimates, seemed to be inconsistent with the back-calculated lengths-at-age 1. This report summarizes the problem, as I see it, that might exist with our current age determination and grouping of herring populations in the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence"--Introduction.
