"This report on broadband coaxial cable data communications systems has been prepared by the Cable Telecommunications Research Institute for the Department of Communications under Supply and Services Canada contract OST82-00140. It is based upon a 1983 survey of cable industry activity within Canada and the United States and represents a snapshot view of a rapidly, emerging technology. The purpose of preparing this report is twofold: to comment on the problematic issue of innovation versus standardization and to increase awareness of the growing role of coaxial cable tchnology in the transmission of a new generation of signals and services"--Foreword.
