"A related feasibility study on the multipurpose spacecraft, carried out under contract number P136100-4-0947, resulted in a report entitled "Communications Subsystem Feasibility Study". The implementation study of which this is the final report, carried on at the point where the feasibility study left off. That is, problems of availability of space qualified hardware, and various interfacing problems were investigated. The following paragraphs outline the payload concept developed in the feasibility study. For a more detailed description of the concepts and operation of the communications payload, the reader is referred to the final report on the feasibility study referenced above"--Summary, page 1.
