Difference in path loss between a circularly polarized wave and a horizontally polarized wave after transmission over a long over-water path / by W.P. Lonc, principal investigator, Physics Department,...: Co24-3/1-RC87-001E-PDF
"This Report is the seventh (and final) in a series pertaining to VHF and UHF path-loss studies between Sable Island and Halifax made by Saint Mary's University (SMU) for the Communications Research Centre (CRC) of the Department of Communications (DOC) of Canada. This particular report consists of two relatively disparate topics: first, a search for any measureable difference between the fading behaviour of a circularly polarized wave and its horizontal linear component propagating from the island to Halifax; second, path-loss statistics for the same path on HF and the associated statistics pertaining to surface meteorological (SURFMET) and upper-air conditions, for the year 1986 (similar statistics for the year 1985 are found in last year's Report)"--Preface.
