"A sanitary survey of Gabriola Island and outlying areas was conducted between July 21 and August 27, 1975, by personnel of the Environmental Protection Service, Pacific Region. The purpose of the survey was to fully evaluate the quality of the growing water in the area since no previous studies had been performed and thereby to classify the waters as contaminated or uncontaminated with respect to the health hazard associated with the consumption of molluscan shellfish harvested from the waters"--Abstract.
