| 520 | |a"DRDC Atlantic has been developing a research-level acoustic prediction system in support of tactical decision aids and improving operator effectiveness, the System Test Bed (STB). The Portable Acoustic Sensitivity and Transmission Estimation Tool (PASTET) has been, and is being, developed as an adjunct to the STB and extension of existing acoustic propagation modeling capabilities. The first objective of this call-up is to include in PASTET the capability for using an Empirical Orthogonal Function (EOF) analysis of sound speed profiles (SSP) to provide the basis for a nonlinear estimate of the sensitivity of transmission loss (TL) to SSP variance, using a Monte Carlo methodology. This is an extension of the present capability for linear estimation of TL sensitivity to SSP standard deviation. As a second objective, this call-up also included the capability in PASTET for a nonlinear estimate of the TL sensitivity to bathymetry variability, through a power spectrum analysis of fluctuations and a Monte Carlo methodology. A third objective, also using a Monte Carlo methodology, is to include an option to handle spatial field shifting, which finds the correlation between a reference acoustic field and its perturbed variations"--Abstract, page i. |
