"A sanitary survey of Sooke Harbour and Sooke Basin was conducted between November 1974 and February 1975 by personnel of the Environmental Protection Service, Pacific Region. The purpose of the survey was to determine the effect of an increased residential population on the water quality in the harbour and basin since the previous survey conducted in 1964, and to classify the waters as contaminated or uncontaminated with respect to the health hazard associated with the consumption of molluscan shellfish harvested from the waters"--Abstract.
