Protecting the deep sea in Canadian waters : a rationale based on the Eastern Canyons Area (Eastern Scotian Shelf, Atlantic Canada) / Myriam Lacharité & Ryan R.E. Stanley.: Fs97-6/3347E-PDF
"The Eastern Canyons Area (ECA) was announced in March 2018 as a potential location for a deep-sea closure under Canada’s Fisheries Act. The ECA is located along the edge of the Eastern Scotian Shelf in the Scotian Shelf Bioregion (Maritimes Region, Atlantic Canada), and generally covers the deep waters seaward of the continental shelf. Here, a rationale is provided for the protection of deep-sea ecosystems in the ECA; however, general considerations and recommendations are described in such a way to, whenever possible, broaden their application to other Canadian deep-sea ecosystems, especially along passive continental margins"--Abstract.
