520 |a"This paper presents a preliminary analysis of water use in the integrated iron and-steel plants of the Canadian Great Lakes basin, the Steel Company of Canada (Stelco) and Dominion Foundries and Steel Company (Dofasco), both located at Hamilton, and Algoma Steel Corporation (Algoma) at Sault Ste. Marie. The first part of the paper (Chapters 1 and 2) sets forth a description of the research problem and establishes some general economic parameters of the plants under study. Chapter 3 contains a method of estimating water quantities used in the industry. The remainder of the paper is devoted to a description and analysis of waste treatment in the industry, using the three plants under study as examples"--Abstract.
