Report on the proceedings of Search 20 : a Canadian communications R&D forum.: Co22-316/1989E-PDF
"Search 20, a forum of Canadian industry, university and government leaders in the Canadian communications field, was held at St. Sauveur, Québec on 13-15 March 1989. The aim of the forum was to attempt to reach a consensus on the question: Where should the focus of the Canadian communications research and development effort be and what mechanisms, infrastructure and programs will contribute to the attainment of the best results from public and private sector investment in communications R&D? Consistent with the recommendations of the National Advisory Board for Science and Technology, the objectives of the R&D initiatives are: to build the Canadian communications equipment and service sector; to expand the use of communications technology throughout the economy. This report of the proceedings of 'Search 20' presents a synthesis of the workshop reports and the plenary reports and discussions from each of the three tiers, and summarizes the recommendations of the forum"--Introduction, page 5.
