"Arthropathies are a general term referring to diseases of the joint(s). Gout is a form of crystal arthropathies, characterized by the changes in uric acid levels which lead to joint swelling and sometimes, joint damage. The reported prevalence and incidence of gout are increasing worldwide and it is considered to be the most common type of inflammatory arthritis. Symptoms of gout and other types of crystal arthropathies, including pseudogout, are often treated with medication, but lifestyle changes may also help"--Page [1].
